When Shane Mauss was an eight year old child growing up in a small town in Wisconsin, a friend said to him, “You should be a stand up comic!” Shane asked, “What’s that?” His friend explained, “It’s a person that goes on a stage, tells jokes, and makes people laugh.” Shane knew right then what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Because there was nowhere in his small town to start a comedy career, Shane decided to move to a coast near NY or LA. By chance, he ended up tagging along with a friend to Boston which just happens to be one of the best cities in the country to begin and develop as a stand up. In April 2004 Shane took a class on stand up began going to open mikes and quickly gained the attention and respect from comics and comedy bookers with his offbeat, creative, and clever material, his prolific writing, and laid back delivery. In less than three years Shane has had much success including: Finalist in the 2006 International Boston Comedy Festival 2007 Original Las Vegas Comedy Festival Current finalist in the Laughs Across America Contest And most recently was 1 of 22 stand up comics from around the world invited to the very prestigious HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, where he was awarded Best Stand Up Comic of 2007 Has appeared on: Playboy TV Late Night with Conan O’Brien Though for many, these things would be a career highlight, for Shane Mauss it is just the beginning of much more to come. What started as a foolish boyhood dream has quickly become a reality.
